What is P.A.I.D.?
P.A.I.D. (Poverty Alleviation and
Identification Day) is a simple two step commitment to ending
poverty one day at a time. P.A.I.D. involves
making a commitment to living one day on $1.00 and then giving
a financial gift based upon your income or your savings from that day to charities committed to ending
poverty in the world. Click here for
more detailed information about P.A.I.D.
How many P.A.I.D. days should I commit to?
It’s totally up to you. The large majority of people
who have P.A.I.D. to end poverty commit one
day per month to living on $1.00 and then give their income
from that day to charity. If you commit to one day per month,
that would be the equivalent of 3.28% of your annual income.
However, even committing to one or two days per year can make
a significant difference!
How do you select the charities you recommend?
To be listed as a P.A.I.D.charity, the charity
must meet the following four qualifications:
- 85% or more of every dollar given to their charity goes
directly to program services.
- Each charity is independently audited annually to ensure
financial accountability.
- Each charity has received the highest 4-Star Charity
Navigator rating indicating exceptional operating efficiencies
and growth in programs and services over time.
- Each charity has been granted tax-exempt status under
section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
You can be certain when you give to support a P.A.I.D.
charity that your donation is going to make a difference for
people in poverty.
Do I have to give to the recommended P.A.I.D. charities?
No. The only thing we ask is that the charity you give to
is committed to meeting the needs of people affected by poverty.
As an example, you may want to divide your charity donation
and give a portion of it to charities in your local area committed
to poverty relief.
Do I have to register my P.A.I.D. day?
No, although we really hope that you will. As the P.A.I.D.concept
grows, we want to keep a running stat of how many people are
having a P.A.I.D.day on any given day of
the month. You will be able to visit our website and see how
many others are experiencing a P.A.I.D.day
with you. Click here to
